That will have to wait though. Our forecast today calls for 3" of snow.

I have been cooped up in this house FAR too long. I'm a social phobic hermit by nature, but I have LITERALLY only left my house one time per month these past few months for doctor's appointments, which even by my standards is ridiculous. Yesterday I threw my Winter coat on and spend most of the day out in our yard and it felt SO good. I even brought Orion's blankie outside for him and he slept outside for awhile (a major feat for him, we live in an urban area and the noise sometimes freaks him out to the point where he doesn't relax outside).NJhusband did something manly fixing our grill and I sat and read a book and looked over our plans for some new planter beds we (ok NJhusband) are building this Spring. It was a lovely day outside and I absolutely can NOT wait until we break out the patio furniture and start having meals outside again.

Am I the only person who washes EVERY item of clothing that was in a suitcase, regardless of wear, after a trip? NJhusband thinks its ridiculous to wash clothes that weren't worn, but I feel like everything in there comes out smelling like suitcase if I don't. For this reason it drives me CRAZY the way that NJhusband packs for a trip.
Case in point: NJhusband just returned (Yay!) from a 4 day trip to St. Martin. His suitcase contained:
4 pairs of swim trunks (note: he can not swim)
3 long sleeved dress shirts
1 short sleeved dress shirt
2 polo shirts
2 tank tops
2 pairs of shorts
1 pair of khakis
2 pairs of shoes/flip flops
2 pairs white socks
1 pair dress socks
1 pair of sleeping shorts
Let me do the math for you. That is SIXTEEN shirts for 4 days. He could wear FOUR shirts a day and have enough. The MOUND of laundry I now have to do is huge, but I suppose it's a small price to pay to have him back home again. I'm glad he had the experience and I enjoyed being a bed hog for a few days, but Orion and I missed him. We kind of like seeing his face around.

Firefly Island by Lisa Wingate marries DC politics and ranch life in the West. It seems like an unlikely coupling, but it works and works well.
Mallory is living the typical DC staffer life when she meets Daniel. After a bit of a whirlwind romance, they marry and move to Moses Lake, a small ranch town, for Daniel's work. Upon their arrival, they encounter near uninhabitable conditions, an eccentric boss and a host small-town characters who are more than meets the eye. If that wasn't enough, Mallory unravels a political mystery that may have deadly consequences.
My one minor complaint is that the end felt a little rushed to me. The rest of the book set up the story beautifully and then the end came a bit too quickly and left things a bit open-ended. Definitely still a worthy read if you enjoy a slow cooked mystery.
Bethany House Publishers provided me with a copy of this book to review, but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my own observations and thoughts while reading this novel.

NJhusband is heading off on a bachelor party vaca soon. I'm slightly jealous he is escaping this wacky Winter/Spring hybrid weather for the sunny beaches of the Caribbean. Its always boring when he's gone, but I do look forward to hogging the bed all to myself. Even though I have been married almost a year and a half, I still haven't gotten used to sharing a bed. Also I will NOT miss the snoring! Orion and I don't have any grand plans while he is away....hanging in the yard if the weather is nice, perhaps a Twilight marathon. And of course eating my beloved "nut" foods. NJhusband has nut allergies so whenever he is gone I go crazy making thai peanut noodles, cashew chicken and granola! It will be interesting to see how Orion adjusts to NJhusband being away. He's the "alpha" and Orion's favorite playmate so I think there may be a bit of pouting that goes on.
I think Orion and I are owed beach trip of our own now! Don't you?!

The weather people have said we would get 1-2 inches. We are at 4 and it is still coming down.
Kind of throws a wrench into the "set the patio furniture up" plan I had for this weekend. Also, I was going to give the dog a bath....outside. Unless snow baths are the newest dog spa treatment, Orion is going to have to remain smelly for a bit longer.

The weather has been teetering on the line where it's juuuuuust warm enough to sit outside with a blanket and I'm thrilled! Sun! Reading in my lounge chair! Meals outside! We are still expecting a snowstorm this week, so I haven't convinced NJhusband to break out the patio furniture and cushions yet, but I have brought out our lawn mat and a blanket a few days this week and just soaked up some vitamin D. Even Orion has dug up his outside toys from their winter hiding place and has been asking us to play. Poor pup has major cabin fever. There is a HUGE kennel cough outbreak in my area right now so he is on doggie daycare and dogpark lockdown until it subsides. This strain is affecting even vaccinated dogs and Orion is more susceptible to it due to his allergies and bronchial irritations. We are all going a little stir crazy.
Come on SPRING!!!!!
